Woman’s Health Program
There are many health concerns that women face today. Pelvic floor pain and urinary incontinence are two areas that commonly, and unfortunately, go untreated because people are not aware that there are treatment options for these conditions. One effective option is physical therapy. Our Women’s Health Program here at Blue Valley Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine is geared toward improving the quality of life for women who may be suffering from pelvic floor pain and/or urinary incontinence. Treatment interventions may include relaxation techniques, manual therapy, modalities, SEMG biofeedback, therapeutic exercise, and health bladder habits.
Urinary Incontinence involves involuntary leakage of urine
Symptoms of urinary incontinence include:
- Leaking urine when you cough, sneeze, or laugh (stress incontinence)
- Having a sudden urge to urinate and leaking urine (urge incontinence)
- Leaking small amounts of urine continuously through the day
(overactive bladder or overflow incontinence) - Leaking urine while sleeping
Pelvic Floor Pain affects 1 in 7 American women ages 18-50.
Do you have:
- Pain with prolonged sitting
- Pain or difficulty with bowel or bladder movements
- Pain with, or inability to have sexual intercourse due to pain
Common causes of pelvic floor pain and dysfunction include:

Success Stories
So, if you are inquiring or looking for the best physical therapy unit in the Kansas City area, I can truly recommend Blue Valley Physical Therapy. The greatest compliment I heard over and over from other patients was that they did not want to leave or end their therapy. That shows you how much the therapists make you feel a part of their family. - Brian
